The used Toyota Carina for sale is not the kind of deal you would want to skip. It’s the wagon/family van that came out in the 1970s and was phased out by year 2000. Eventually, it could end up as a collector’s van because of its limited manufacturing volume.  You can never tell but in most cases, situations like this, the value of the car ended up increasing by at least double its original value. This makes the used Toyota Carina for sale a pretty darn good investment.

If you have never seen or heard of the Toyota Carina, here’s a list of what you can expect to find:

  • You can recline the seat and the head restraints are built-in. This makes the van ideal for those who like to sleep and go on long trips
  • When you reverse, you may be surprised to hear a mild beeping nose or flashing lights. This is the warning signals in the Toyota Carina that used to be quite unique in the 1970s. It’s not something you see nowadays and it is possible to retain it or have it adjusted. Of course, it was an option at that time, so there are Toyota Carinas that don’t have this feature at all
  • It has a brake booster so the driver gets assistance known as servo-assistance

In the US, the Toyota Carina vans have always been a rare sight. It was only sold for 2 years before Toyota pulled the plug in response to a 10% import tax. The company decided to put up facilities in the US but by the time that happened, the Toyota Carina was no longer a viable option. Toyota had other vans to offer.
For this reason, if you are going to buy a used Toyota Carina, ask the seller if they have an owner’s manual in English. It’s too much of a hassle to try and figure out the van without an English manual. If the seller insists that the manual is available online, then have him download the English online manual and give you a hard copy before proceeding with the sale.

      3.   Misplaced arrow sign

This sign was evident in road outside the city and gets divided further in three roads, the driver expects sign that suggests which road to take to go to destination but the sign reads something like ‘zzyzz road’ with an arrow pointing skywards. The most important tip for buying new cars in Japan is to read reviews from reputable car experts about the model. If you don’t have a preference for any particular Japanese car brand: Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Yamaha, Mazda, Daihatsu, Subaru, or Mitsuoka, then you will also need to research on each.

Here are other important tips on buying cars in Japan.

Decide what features are important to you and rank them from Most Important to Least Important.

By doing this, you are creating a short list of your ideal Japanese car.  It will also decrease the time you spend on the computer or talking to the car dealer. If you are in Japan, it will be a good idea to write down these features and show it to the Japanese car dealer just in case there is a communication barrier.

Decide your budget

It would be good to have a ballpark figure on how much you would like to spend. But, you should also have another figure for what you can afford should your budget be too small for a new car. Be sure to never go beyond the second figure because the chances of being able to follow through with the full payment or monthly payments might be a problem later on.

Consider a trade-in

If you have a car which you want to upgrade with a new model, then consider talking to the seller about a trade-in. This may not be possible with an independent seller, but no harm in asking. If you do ask for a trade-in, don’t undervalue your car or accept the value the seller is willing to accept. This is always a negotiable number, and if you don’t like it, don’t accept it. Instead, look for a buyer for your car at a price you are comfortable with. With a trade-in, you will be required to show proof of ownership and a current insurance policy.

Never sign a blank Deed of Sale or any blank paper

This is a most important tip because it could get you in a lot of trouble if you sign a paper you don’t understand or have read.
